Abstract

Geothermal energy in the country has been assessed using secondary data as well as hydrothermal exploration of potential areas. Notably, the Barapukuria and Madhyapara regions exhibit moderate-to-high geothermal gradients (20-30 °C km⁻¹), indicating promising prospects. A reviewed study highlights possible pathways for geothermal development, including regional resource mapping, pilot-scale demonstrations, and policy integration. Similar to solar and wind, geothermal energy represents a sustainable option for enhancing energy security and advancing decarbonization efforts.
